Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from dog owners about our training programs and services.

We use a balanced training approach that combines positive reinforcement with clear structure, accountability, and consistent communication. Our goal is to help dogs understand what is expected of them while building reliable, real-world obedience. This approach allows us to address both basic obedience and more serious behavioral issues in a way that is clear, fair, and effective for the dog. We also focus heavily on educating owners so they can confidently maintain and build on their dog’s training at home.

Our Board and Train program is a fixed two-week program. During this time, your dog stays at our facility and works with our trainers daily to build reliable obedience and address behavioral issues. In the vast majority of cases, dogs complete the program within the two-week timeframe. On the rare occasion a dog needs additional time, we will communicate with you directly to ensure we are confident in your dog’s training before returning them home.

Yes, we have experience working with dogs displaying aggressive behaviors and we’re here to help. For dogs with a known bite history or more serious behavioral concerns, we do require an evaluation before acceptance into our Board and Train program. This allows us to assess whether the dog is a good fit for a structured facility environment and ensures the safety of our staff and other dogs.

If a dog is not a suitable candidate for Board and Train, we can discuss alternative options such as in-home training. Our goal is always to find the best and safest path forward for both the dog and the owner.

Our boarding services include climate-controlled accommodations, regular exercise and bathroom breaks, and twice-daily feeding based on your dog’s normal routine (morning and evening). Our team provides attentive care throughout your dog’s stay, with additional accommodations considered on a case-by-case basis when needed.

For our Board and Train program, we do not offer observation of training sessions. This allows us to maintain a structured, distraction-free environment so your dog can learn as effectively as possible.

At the end of the program, we schedule a dedicated turnover session where we walk you through everything your dog has learned. During this session, we ensure you’re comfortable handling your dog, reinforcing the training, and continuing progress at home.

Puppies can begin our Board and Train program between 14-16 weeks of age, once they are fully vaccinated (16 weeks is preferred, though we can occasionally make exceptions). For younger puppies, we offer a puppy consultation to help set you up for success from day one. This includes guidance on structure, routines, and early behaviors so you’re building a solid foundation until your puppy is ready for formal training.

Starting early with the right approach helps prevent common issues and makes the transition into formal training much smoother.

We do not offer service dog training or certification. Service work requires very specific temperament, task-based training, and standards that go beyond the scope of our programs. However, our Board and Train program can provide a strong foundation in core obedience skills such as come, sit, place, and loose leash heeling. These fundamentals are important for any well-trained dog and can be a starting point for owners pursuing more advanced goals.

Board and Train is our most popular and effective option for most dogs. During their stay, dogs receive consistent, structured training in a controlled environment over a two-week period. This allows them to build a strong foundation quickly, with clear communication and real-world exposure, making the transition back home much smoother.

In-home training can be a good fit for dogs with more minor behavioral issues, but it requires a significant time commitment and consistency from the owner between sessions. Results are often more dependent on the owner’s availability and follow-through. For clients looking for faster, more reliable results with long-term support, Board and Train is typically the better option.
